Designer Spotlight: R. Riveter

Where: 177 W Pennsylvania Ave, Southern Pines, NC 28387

What: Custom Made Handbags

Happy Friday! This post is a little different from my usual in the sense that my sister, Mary-Chapin, is contributing. We both love living local-wearing, eating, and supporting. She recently traveled to Southern Pines, North Carolina and came across a storefront called R. Riveter. Read on, as she gives more insight to these beautiful bags with an even better back story.

Along the outer edge of Southern Pines’ shopping district lies R. Riveter’s only single standing shop. With its welcoming brick and blue storefront, the store is eye-catching on the outside and inside. Each of R.Riveter’s bags have a similar look- a brown, leather flap over a black suede body. But the purses and bags have more to them than their uniquely sophisticated look, each and every bag is hand-made by military spouses. R.Riveter’s brand honors its military heritage from intermingling military memorabilia and dog tags in their storefront and displays, along with featuring a stamp of the maker’s initials on the bag. Unlike other big name purse brands, R.Riveter carries an important agenda: empowering military spouses. A R.Riveter bag is the perfect two-fer- you can support our nation’s military and look stylish at the same time.

RR_MJG4The Southern Pines location is their only storefront but the website is extremely user-friendly. My fav is the Signature Hobby. Check out R. Riveter’s website here to see all their cute handbag styles and more about the ladies who created them.

signatureThank you, Mary-Chapin, for contributing in this installment of Designer Spotlight on MJG.
