The Kentucky Derby is the ultimate Kentucky event. From fashion, to drinks, and the atmosphere you can’t not have a fabulous time at this traditional, Southern horse race. After you attend your day at the track there is always the possibility of going out to eat. I have put together a list by neighborhoods of where to eat after the races. After a day at the races and most likely losing some money, it can be hard to find a budget friendly dinner. I always try to think can I afford this on my own? I believe these options are great for a 20 something gal or fella budget but they can add up if you order a lot of drinks. Just something to remember 😉
Feast BBQ: Barbeque, brisket, bourbon slushies, and group tables. This is a great location for a large group. Make sure to try the tatertot appetizer.
Garage Bar: GB has tons of outdoor seating and ping pong tables. Their specialty dish is pizza and tons of beer on draft.
Galaxie: Galaxie is the best place for a marg and guac. I absolutely love their gauc because it is chunky and comes with homemade chips.
El Mundo: A Mexican restaurant that has a large menu of food, apps, and drinks. My favorite is the Grande Burrito. You will not leave hungry by any means.
The Craft House: Their specialty is craft beers, they have about 30 to 40 on draft. The burger is a must when eating here with a side of mac and cheese. It’s amazing with its crusty breadcrumbs sprinkled on top.
The Comfy Cow: Homemade ice cream with rotating flavors. This month they have Derby themed options. A small cup is all you will need. Trust me! P.S it is a bright pink building…you can’t miss it!
The Highlands/Bardstown Road
Ditto’s: Pasta! A large restaurant that has amazing bread, pasta, and drinks. Try the blackened chicken Alfredo.
Enjoy your Derby day!
